Calcite
Calcite is a common mineral, especially in the Jura, the Pre-Alps and the Northern Limestone Alps. Calcite does occur in alpine fissures, but specimens are not as large as in the Northern Limestone Alps. The most famous fissures are the Gonzen iron mine near Sargans and the now protected cave near Kandersteg, Gurnigel, Gasterental.
