Chlorite

Chlorite / Clinochlore

Chlorite is often not a friend of the prospector. Many clear rock crystals, but also other minerals, were covered by chlorite in their last growth phase and have thus lost all luster and transparency. But there are exceptions: Chlorite inside quartz can be very pretty due to the phantom formation that has occurred. There are, also chlorite crystals. Thin, hexagonal green crystal platelets from Felskinn, Saas-Fee that are very attractive to look at and are called clinochlor.

Speaking of names: What is commonly called chlorite is now called clinochlore. It was formerly subdivided into rhipidolite, clinochlor, pennin, diabantite, etc.
