Morion
Morions are smoky quartz crystals. When they appear almost black they are called morions. They are rare and accordingly in demand and are usually found only above 3000 m.
For a long time, a dark smoky quartz found in 1868 on the Tiefengletscher was considered the largest smoky quartz, weighing 127.5 kilos. Today, in Werner Schmidt’s museum in Mörel, you can admire a smoky quartz floater without the slightest flaw weighing in over 800 kilos! Unbelievable.
