Hessonite

Hessonite, also known as Grossular, is a mineral of the garnet group. The most beautiful are the red-orange to dark-red hessonites. These contain trivalent iron, i.e. they are essentially grossular-andradite mixtures. The most important sites are in the Zermatt-Saas Fee region.
